<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />Hi SE's,
Tom Donnelly shares some good resources below for self-learning in the text exploration space, so sharing it here along with the attached PDF. Thank you Tom!
As an aside, please use care in referring to the capabilities in JMP in this area as "Text Exploration" to differentiate them from the enterprise products from SAS in this space which are different.
Thanks.
Chuck

Chuck,
I am attaching a 15-page paper by the Adsurgo team on Text Mining that Jim Wisnowski sent to me I think it is a good resource for SEs to have and to share with customers looking for a quick understanding of what JMP’s Text Explorer may be able to do for them.
If people want to go deeper, here are the first three of the 43 references in the paper.

I found the third for free - available as a PDF here… http://pdf.th7.cn/down/files/1312/taming_text.pdf
The second one is a SAS publication. http://smportal.sas.com/marketing/books/Pages/Text-Mining-and-Analysis.aspx Dr. Chakraborty is or has been on the Discovery Summit steering committee. Probably has some good data sets associated with it.
The first one, which the Adsurgo team relied on the most, is available from Amazon in the $40 to $60 range here: https://www.amazon.com/Practical-Statistical-Analysis-Non-structured-Applications/dp/012386979X/ref=mt_hardcover?_encoding=UTF8&me=
Thought I would share these links with you and let you decide if you want to disseminate further.

Oh--Thanks Tom, I saw the "Taming Text" in the link and went no further. I will get the 2013 "Taming Text" book into the starter as well.
Cheers,
Brady
Brady,
I just checked and the 2013 non-SAS "Taming Text" book I reference is different than the 2004 SAS "Taming Text" paper in the JMP 13 Training Starter. Melinda Thielbar also suggested this book during the SE Summit.
Tom
Thanks for adding these, Tom. The SAS tech support doc .pdf, "Taming Text..." is already in the starter version that everyone has. I will add the other links and this .pdf in the first rebuild.
Cheers,
Brady
