<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />Hi. I know finding new demo data is difficult. Byron Byron suggested, for financial and other data, considering using the Building Better Models Data. Some is familiar - other looks like examples I have never seen used. See attached.
Peter is right - much of the book is standard JMP. We wanted to focus on core modeling concepts before diving into more advanced topics and methods. The book is designed for folks who've had a stat course (at some point) and want to learn more about building predictive models. So, its designed to be introductory, not overly deep conceptually, and case-study based.
We don't really get into JMP Pro features until Chapter 7, Neural Networks. So, MLR, Logistic, and trees are all introduced using standard JMP. In the next edition, scheduled for release with JMP 14, we'll add more on Gen Reg, Multivariate, and data preparation, and will be adding more case studies. We'll also be addressing eratta documented on the textbook page: Building Better Models with JMP Pro Textbook Page. So, if you find anything not listed please comment on that page.
FYI - We pulled 5 of the case studies from the book to create stand-alone case studies that are freely available. The cases and data sets are available here: Collection: Analytics Case Study Library
Thanks!
Mia
I just went through the book cover to cover and don't let the JMP Pro centric nature of the book scare you away. Many of the datasets and narratives surrounding the datasets can still be used when we're not in a JMP Pro prospect.
