Column Values as Image Markers
Video Script
Using Images as Markers in JMP Graphs adds subject context to visualizations and can result in increased engagement. You can create a Column of images in JMP by setting the Col Data Type to an expression then dragging those images into each row. After that, you can additionally indicate that the column is used for markers by selecting Use for Marker from the Col menu.
Alternatively, you can use a character or numeric column as the marker.
If you want to display both an image and other Column value in your graph, as shown here, toggle the "Use for Marker" settings in your images Column and give each Column value, that you want to display, the "Label" role. Right-click the Column Panel and select Label.
Here I have the polygon shape Column, the images Column, set to Marker. In Graph Builder once I roll over the data point, I'll select the pin in the upper right. The next step is right click that Image Marker and toggle on Tag Line. You can drag them around to clear other blocked data points and add as many as you need to communicate your point. This is helpful if you want to highlight select data points and their values. To resize the markers, right-click the graph, and choose Graph then choose your desired Marker Size.

Re: Column Values as Image MarkersThank you for the feedback. I should have this new version today.Re: Column Values as Image MarkersNote: the link is incorrect--I'll point to the correct YouTube video when the link is ready.
Re: Column Values as Image MarkersI'm fine with Stan's changes. It looks good to me.
Here is the Newswire paragraph:
Have you tried...
...using images as markers in JMP graphs? Images are useful for adding subject context to visualizations and can result in increased engagement. To use images in your graphs, create a column of images by setting the Col Data Type to "expression" and drag the images into each row. Identify this column for use as markers by selecting the column and clicking "Use for Marker" in the Col menu. Watch this video to see how to add image markers to your JMP graphs.
Please let me know if it needs mods.
Thanks,
Landra
Re: Column Values as Image MarkersVideo is good. A few edits to the script:
Using Images as Markers in JMP Graphs adds subject context to visualizations and can result in increased engagement. You can create a Column of images in JMP by setting the Col Data Type to an expression then dragging those images into each row. After that, you can additionally indicate this column to use for markers by selecting Use for Marker from the Col menu. This feature prevents the need to look at a marker color and refer to the legend for its meaning, which is particularly helpful with data that contains many levels.
Alternatively, you can use a character or numeric column as the marker.

Re: Column Values as Image Markers@ryandewitt,
A couple of minor issues--
at 0:20 in the video:
- you mention 'Use for marker' from the column menu. I suggest changing the sentence to something like the following: "...ensure the column you would like to use has been selected and then from the Cols menu choose the option Use for Marker."
- you zoom the focus to the columns panel to indicate the 'Use for Marker' icon is being utilized but you don't explicitly tell us why you zoomed over or anyting about the icon
at 1:32 in the video:
- "...add as many as you need to make your point." For me, this is a bit awkward when talking about points and then to refer to making a point in the same sentence. Perhaps change to "...add as many pinned images with tag lines as necessary to communicate your message."
However, I'll leave the above to @landra_c for her thoughts.
