Customer is updating from JMP 12 to 14; installation questionI have a user who is upgrading from JMP 12 to 14. She is wondering what the typical time to install is.
She said her computer says the package would take 2 hours to install.
Has anyone heard this before? Is this just a bad estimate and it really won't take that long?
Re: Customer is updating from JMP 12 to 14; installation questionI have never had an install or update take more than a few minutes on a Windows or Macintosh computer.
Re: Customer is updating from JMP 12 to 14; installation questionI have the same experience as Mark. Is your customer installing from an install file on a network drive by any chance? Pehaps across a slow network?
Re: Customer is updating from JMP 12 to 14; installation questionAgree with Mark and Malcolm. It's usually < 5 mins to install or update. The only other thing I can think of is overly agressive virus scanning software. We've had at least one customer that had issues with the JMP 14 install in this regard. JMP 14 lays down thousands of individual .html files (the help), which the virus checking software flagged as suspect. In this case JMP wasn't able to be installed, but it's something to explore.
But more than likely if they are trying to install from a network location, copying the install locally first might improve the time it takes to install the software.
@bob_hickey may have other thoughts.
Re: Customer is updating from JMP 12 to 14; installation questionThe only time I have had JMP take a while to load was when I was customer, it was combined with SAS Visual Analytics (unbeknownest me). That took longer.
Re: Customer is updating from JMP 12 to 14; installation questionThanks for all your help. Turns out she was trying to do this at home.
