Number of contour lines displayed on Surface plot

Anybody know how to control the number of contour lines shown when you using the show contour option in the surface plot? I'd like to be able to control the number of lines and where the labels are.

Ah, now I see which contour you are referring too. The I thought you might have been referring to the fill type. Ya, there is no option. I even tried to find a scripting option, but if it is there, it is hidden. Contour Plot has that option, but not Surface Plot.

Here is an example with the data needed to create it. You can get the contours by clicking on the surface color in the bottom control panel the options are: on the surface, above, and below. The below option is shown in the picture.
