Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuHi
I thought we had this question in the past some years ago but couldn't find it anymore in the community nor in my emails.
Someone (Brady?) came up with a script/add-in to switch between JMP and JMP Pro functionalities. I mean using JMP Pro but only want to see JMP features in the menu, so a fake JMP using JMP Pro
Anyone can point me to this or has some thoughts on how to do this in case I remember ghosts in my mind (close to helloween that wouldn't surprise me
)
Thanks,
Martin
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuJust to reiterate. When Dan talked with me about my version, it was as Brady said - not for public use. The JSL for how to do this is undocumented for that reason.Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuThis add-in/script to switch between JMP and JMP Pro should not be customer facing or shared with customers. However in the preferences, they can go to the Preference Group -> Menu and turn off Advanced Modeling if they so desire.
If they want to train JMP users using JMP, they will need a JMP license. If they do not want to pay for a JMP license and a JMP Pro license, they can turn off the advance modeling in the preferences and turn off most of JMP Pro. If they don't want to do that, they can explain which features/platform differences that their version has vs. the standard JMP version and teach around that.

Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuI see... I've asked Dan to weigh in here, let's get his take on this. Again, unfortunately the JSL isn't meant for customer consumption.
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuWe have pro users in a stats support department also providing trainings to JMP users. To not to confuse them they asked for this. So there is kind of need there, as a customer would need to have a license for JMP Pro and JMP to install both and this is hard to explain why they need to pay twice if they just want to get rid of the menu and at best the functionalities like validation role in fit model after adding a YRe: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuNo, you’ve been able to do it for a while – but I don’t like having to maintain multiple versions of a particular release (both because of disk space and because it just irritates me). I made mine so that I didn’t have to. I just flip back and forth when needed – which isn’t as often as I thought I would when I coded it up.
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuThat was a request from Dan. It case it made it out into the wild.
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuMine's not password-protected, though.
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuYeah, I think my whining about needing to do it might have contributed to the function being made. I can't recall... I think I had wanted something like that for making the training materials so I could easily grab a screenshot of JMP Pro menus vs. JMP menus.
I never knew you could install JMP and JMP Pro simultaneously on both mac and windows... is that new-ish?
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro Menu@brady_brady, You made one too?? My bad. I didn't know there was another one out there.
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuHowever, on both Windows and Mac you can have both JMP and JMP Pro installed at the same time. So, is there really a need to switch JMP Pro back and forth?
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuI should also note that it is not just the menus that are controlled by the addin. JSL commands that run JMP Pro-only features / options will not run.
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuMartin,
Back in late 2015 or early 2016, Host group director Brian Corcoran wrote a function for this which I made into the attached addin; his caveats were:
1) This is not meant to be a customer feature. It is for internal use / demo / testing purposes only.
2) After selecting the option (on or off), shut down JMP and restart it. This is not meant to dynamically change the menus.
The syntax of the JSL itself is:
Pref( Disable JMP Pro( 0| 1 ) );
My addin is not password-protected.
Cheers,
Brady
Re: Switch between JMP and JMP Pro MenuThat would have been me… I’ll email you the addin and the password.
