Pulling data from AWS S3[Customers] are poised for major growth with JMP, as long as we can show and confirm that they will be able to easily pull data from AWS’s simple storage service called S3.
Background:
They will begin migrating all of their data over to AWS at the start of next year.
We already told them that it shouldn’t be a problem as long as they can access an OBDC driver, but they asked us to provide a solid confirmation/demonstration.
[Does JMP] have any experience with this, or can you provide any guidance?

Re: Pulling data from AWS S3One more point here--
AWS S3 is object storage not a database.
S3 allows for various type of objects, such as, files, JMP data tables, images, videos, etc. to be accessible from the internet.
A database and the way it stores data are different.
Clarify with the customer to be sure they want to access "normal" files versus accessing databases.
If the former, then use the method I recommended to mount the remote file system and access it as if it were a local folder on your computer. They can use HTTP request but much too complicated if all they need is to upload and download files from AWS S3.
If the latter, then yes they would need an ODBC driver.

Re: Pulling data from AWS S3We’ve had some folks asking about this on the user community:

Stan’s answered one way to do this that was accepted as a solution.
