Notes from 30Aug17
Friends,
Thanks for joining me last week for our ongoing discussion on Social Selling. Here are some of the notes and resources from our session:
- If you aren’t already connected with all of your site reps, that’s a good place to start.
- When companies have layoffs, follow these folks to their new company and congratulate them on the new job.
- When sharing content, there’s no steadfast rule for the ratio on posting content that is third-party versus SAS or JMP-created. Just make sure you are offering a good mix of content (not all JMP, all the time).
- Encourage your SE to post content relevant to their connections’ business roles to establish themselves as subject matter expert.
- A great place to look for new content is the weekly report sent out by Amy Madison – there is always something shareable!
- Don’t be afraid to create a LinkedIn post! Arati is happy to review it first if you’d like.
- Buffer.com is a great content scheduling site to drip feed your social content – ask Ashley or Arati for help.
- Frank mentioned Hootsuite for managing social content – contact Frank to learn more.
- Our collective experience is that sending Inmails is not the best way to get a response. It is better to send a connection request with a short message about why you would like to connect.
- How much time do we spend in Sales Navigator? It might be good to block time each week to work in this tool. Use the Lead Builder to generate and save some searches and let the engine push new contacts to you when someone new matches your report criteria.
- The Sales Navigator mobile app is easy to use – ask Shawn for help.
- Talk with your field counterparts to discuss how they are using the tool. It would be advantageous for them to make contacts at higher levels in their customer base. You’ll want to make sure you are not reaching out to the same people at the same time.
- Let’s help each other by liking and sharing each other’s content! This helps reach a larger audience.
I am starting a Social Selling Best Practices document on the JMP Sales and Marketing community page so we can record and build upon these best practices. Since the community is a great place to comment and share, please feel free to start a conversation there.
I’m looking forward to hearing about the social selling work you are all doing – thanks in advance for your continued feedback.
Ashley
