DOE with no ReplicationHello:
I would like to ask how to perform pooling up SSE term, select terms that are expected to have the insignificant effect and add them to SSE, to do ANOVA in DOE with no replication?
Sincerely,
TK
Re: DOE with no ReplicationThe linear model is a linear combination of terms plus the error. You can add terms to this combination to model random effects of a factor. The error variance is encountered in every run. The random effect of this factor is encountered only when the factor is changed or reset. The response has two random contributions, this factor and the errors. One of them is sampled faster (error) than the other (random factor effect).
Re: DOE with no ReplicationThank you!
I have a short question; if I choose the attribute to be the random effect, this approach is not the same as pooling right?
TK
Re: DOE with no ReplicationThe regression analysis 'pools' the error estimate in the sum of squares for the error. You do not have to do anything except add or remove terms to the linear model.
The pooling assumes that the mean but not the variance of the response depends on the factor levels. You must check that assumption, usually through residual analysis.
