jeff.perkinson's notes from the Jive Health Check - 25Nov2014
Need to get the Google Page Rank add-in for Chrome to see the Page Rank for community.jmp.com
Need to submit sitemap to Google Webmaster tools - jonathan.bryant, can you take this on?
I've seen some links to the old discussions forum (communities.sas.com) in Discussions posts. Can we run a query against the database to see how many there are and (if not too many) edit the posts to point to the appropriate thread on community.jmp.com? - stanley.koprowski1, can you help here with the query?
We need to configure site search in Google Analytics - I'll work with bencovington on this
Promote community.jmp.com using the auto-response email from Tech Support. - I'll work with arati.mejdal to get text and we'll send it to TS.
We should consider where we can add deep links from jmp.com to community.jmp.com. For example, links to add-ins or interesting discussions. This will help with page rank for community.jmp.com and will also serve to promote it to jmp.com visitors.
Need more calls to action on main page. "Get latest add-ins."
Drive people to what they need/want.
We need to learn more about the Data Export API - stanley.koprowski1?
Our conversion chain: Anonymous visitor -> Registered -> Participant -> Contributor. We need to move people along this.
Get an AddThis.com account to track social sharing. - Done. Account created and profile id added to Social Media Settings.
Corey showed a site that had their community built into their Facebook page. We should learn more about this and consider the same thing. It wasn't clear whether it was StreamOnce or something else. - arati.mejdal, we'll post the link to the Facebook page here so you can see what it looks like and then we can talk about it.
We need to think about how we encourage connections between users. Gamification will help, but so will simply promoting it.
Cool trick to use a "read-only" space, devoid of any content except for an overview page with a giant HTML widget as a way to create a single page for some content. You can use CSS to get rid of the space header.
Gamification module will let us eliminate SAS employees from the Top Users.
Corey says, "Utility drives interaction." Make things useful and make sure useful stuff is easy to get to.
Perhaps the add-ins page should feature an add-in from us, an add-in from a user and then a call for the reader to post their own.
Need a program to recognize advocates. This is key.
Should we have the File Exchange sub spaces in the drop down nav?
Encourage JMP bloggers to put a link to the JMP Blog on their Profile page. We can also edit profiles to do it for them.
Need a link to community.jmp.com from the JMP Blog. - arati.mejdal, can you take care of this?
"Did we inspire you?" is a good way to encourage action.
Our overview pages are very text heavy. Make more use of HTML widgets to feature content and break up the text of the pages.
Get the Advanced Rest Client extension for Chrome to use the Data Export API easily.
The Ghost Blog Plug-in may lest us post content as someone else.
The auto-follow plug-in can be used to force people to follow spaces/content/etc.
The Social Group Widget will let us gather the User Group groups onto a single page.
We should order some tchotchkes with "community.jmp.com" on them. Something that will sit on a desk and remind users to visit. Ideas?
Recognize community leaders at Discovery events. Before event find the leaders who are in attendance and recognize them. - jessica.marquardt needs to be told. I'll do this.
How can we leverage, cross-link, etc. the Newswire in the community?
We can edit the weekly update email template to use it as a news vehicle or to promote something specific.
ryan.dewitt, stanley.koprowski1, jonathan.bryant Will you add your notes to this document?
