Re: All Competitors Bulleted List@danielvalente @saradoudt Any info on OriginPro https://www.originlab.com/ ? Customers are asking us about how JMP compares
Re: All Competitors Bulleted ListHi!
Does anyone have any info on Stata?

Re: All Competitors Bulleted ListI was surprised to see that Minitab also refers to their graphing/data viz tool as "Graph Builder"
this is on their homepage:

Re: All Competitors Bulleted ListInteresting Wendy. Looks like it was just released (at least the press release) yesterday! https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2021/06/24/2252644/0/en/Minitab-Launches-Interactive-Graph-Builder-for-Minitab-Statistical-Software.html
Re: All Competitors Bulleted ListHello all,
we are currently facing amazon sagemaker (Amazon SageMaker – Machine Learning – Amazon Web Services). Is there any information available regarding the strengths to tackle this "competitor" @saradoudt @Daniel_Valente ?
Any advice is helpful, kind regards DACHT1 @Manuela_Mek @Florian_Vogt

All Competitors Bulleted ListThis bulleted list (alphabetical by competitor) is meant to serve as a snapshot of quick selling points against each competitor for all of the JMP products (JMP, JMP Clinical, JMP Genomics, JMP Live). Each competitor will also have more detailed information linked such as full SWOTS and related assets. This page was last updated in Fall 2020 and will be updated when additional competitor information is available.
BioPython (JMP Genomics)
- BioPython is error prone, programmers create one-off code.
- BioPython has no tech support.
- Potential Issue: Latest machine learning methods are available sooner than JMP Genomics.
- More on JMP Genomics
Exensio
- Common in semiconductor industry
- JMP is substantially cheaper per license - could be anywhere from 10-50x cheaper depending on where the account is on the license cost curve
- JMP is much better suited for EDA and ad hoc analysis
- Going to be more flexible and can handle a wider variety of analysis problems (bigger menu of tools)
- JMP has unique capabilities such as DOE, Fit Model, and Reliability analysis
- JMP reports are dynamic and interactive
Golden Helix (JMP Genomics)
- Golden Helix has less analytics.
- Golden Helix has less statistical visualizations.
- Potential Issue: Golden Helix has a services branch to do the work for the customer.
- More on JMP Genomics
Graph Pad Prism (coming soon)
Matlab
- Faster learning curve with JMP.
- Pricing—the cost of licensing JMP can be less than adding on the statistics toolbox for MATLAB when there are > 2 licenses of JMP – a good talking point if the customer has only a base MATLAB installation.
- JMP is integrated with Matlab, R, SAS, Excel.
- Matlab SWOT
- JMP and Matlab Infokit
- Matlab Online
Minitab
- Minitab is not interactive like JMP.
- Minitab does not have the capability to perform analyses at the scale and speed of JMP.
- Minitab is very limited in DOE and predictive modeling compared to JMP; Minitab has no data mining algorithms and does not have more advanced features than JMP.
- Minitab is Windows-only with the exception of Minitab Express, which is a limited version for teaching.
- Support & resources JMP makes available far exceeds that of Minitab.
- Minitab SWOT
- Moving from Minitab to JMP - Transition Guide
- Minitab Training
- Minitab Site
Optimal +
- Commonly seen in semiconductor industry
- JMP is substantially cheaper per license.
- JMP is much better for EDA and ad hoc analysis.
- JMP can also do things that Optimal+ currently can’t such as DOE, Fit Model, and Reliability analysis.
- JMP reports are dynamic and Optimal+ reports are static.
- Semiconductor Training and Info
Partek (JMP Genomics)
- Partek has less analytics, only allows models up to 2 factors. Ex: you can compare differences in expression between Male and Females, and between Control, Treatment 1, and Treatment 2. JMPG allows for many factors. Ex: in addition to the sex comparison and the treatment comparison we can also include age groups, diet groups, etc. As many factors as you need.
- Partek has fewer statistical visualizations
- Potential Issue: Partek has full pipeline which allows Partek to perform sequence alignment, which JMP Genomics cannot do.
- More on JMP Genomics
Perkin-Elmer (JMP Clinical)
Portrait
- Portrait is targeted to marketers; JMP is a more diverse and richer statistical tool that can be used across the organization.
- Portrait is Windows only.
- Though known for their uplift modeling capabilities, JMP provides that and more.
Python
- JMP has dynamic interactive visualization and doesn’t require you to write code to explore your data.
- JMP has a user friendly “point and click” interface.
- JMP has superior DOE.
- JMP is data analysis ready after installation, no need to install extra “modules”.
- JMP and Python can be complimentary:
- Though slower than some other languages like C or C++, Python’s data handling capacity is said to be excellent.
- JMP interfaces to Python (and Excel, Matlab, R, and SAS) to let users expand their toolset and take advantage of the synergies between their tools.
- Using JMP and JMP Pro with Python and R.
- R and Python Training
R Bioconductor (JMP Genomics)
- R Bioconductor is error prone, programmers create one-off code.
- R Bioconductor has no tech support.
- Issue: Latest machine learning methods are available sooner than JMP Genomics.
R Studio (Connect, Shiny, Server Pro)
Reliasoft
- JMP provides better value.
- Reliasoft is only focused on reliability, whereas JMP can address reliability as well as other needs in the organization.
- JMP is more interactive and visual providing the user with a richer experience as well as better means to share findings.
- Reliasoft SWOT
Simca
- JMP provides better value.
- JMP has much better DOE.
- JMP is more graphical and interactive.
- Simca SWOT
SPSS
Spotfire
Statistica
- Statistica has no DOE.
- JMP is a simpler sell—Statistica has many modules and JMP has most of what you need.
- JMP is more visual and interactive and is more tightly integrated with SAS.
Tableau
Umetrics MODDE
- DOE Software by Satorius Stedim Biotech
- Common competitor in Chemical Industry
- Umetrics MODDE SWOT

Re: All Competitors Bulleted ListI'm going to echo @dara_hammond. I was recently involved with NXP's Hack-a-Thon and it was all Dataiku. Granted, they were the organizer. Even so, folks had the opportunity to use JMP but chose not to. What I heard anecdotally was that JMP was good for smaller problems but was relatively hard to productionalize. In particular, incorporating it into an operational setting in concert with other analytic applications was unwieldy due to the need to development and maintain JSL code (from what I saw, Dataiku relied mostly on building flow diagrams via drag and drop). I had also heard that Dataiku doesn't scale well to large data problems. Regardless, it would be good to get a more thorough assessment.
