Select Where() with non existing columnI am looking for some input from more experienced users. I have an issue with Select where() on a summary table that uses subgroups. In certain circumstances a column I am performing a Select Where() on may not exist. In this circumstance the script errors out and aborts. I have gotten around this in 2 ways. First way is the use of Try() around the Select Where(). The 2nd method is to check for existance of the column, create it if it doesn't exist, then perform the Select Where().
What are the repercussions of the Try() function? I prefer this method because it seems simpler and cleaner, although I barely understand it. I don't use the Throw() part of the function. Is the column check and creation method a preferred or more efficient solution?
Thanks for any input.
Re: Select Where() with non existing columnNothing wrong with using Try() and you don't need to use a Throw() expression if you just want the script to keep moving along if the first (and often only) argument returns an exception. Use it with confidence.
