How to make history display more than 10 items on OS X.

Anybody know if there is a way to make the history in the OS X version of JMP hold more than 10 items? There isn't a cap on the windows version that I'm aware of and I'd like to have a larger list of my history for bouncing between projects.

But thats for the OS, not for JMP. Do you mean that JMP just uses the default from Finder?

Can we fix that? The JMP History is probably the only place that I'd like more than 10 everywhere else it doesn't make sense...

This is OSX-affordance. Not something app-specific here as Xan has said. I couldn't imagine us wanting to change that and break that affordance. There are tons of ways on OS X to help with recent files, it just may require a different strategy for thinking about how to organize.

The one I liked is the smart folder. You can put together something like: files open in the last 5 days, which are JMP files.

On the Mac Home Window, you can also pin favorites, which would allow you to keep more than 10 (or whatever you have your preference set at) around:

Benchmarking other OS X software, is there any others that you can think of that do not respect the default Mac OS behavior wrt # of recent files?

I don't know about anyone else, but JMP is really the only software that I would need that kind of capability in. I haven't used the 2016 versions of Office much but I want to say that they do their own thing on this and have a larger history than the rest of the operating system.

Maybe a little bit of a middle ground would be to implement some of the finder features you mention above in the home window. If the development team is using OS X native elements in the GUI wouldn't this be an option that they could just turn on? Maybe even just implementing tags and sorting by tags as an idea - i.e. tag files with project names, demo names, etc. and then use the Finder native organization to group by tag.

I do love the pinning feature and use it a lot.

I think maybe the core of Byron and my point is that the windows home window is really slick and supports usability really well and we should try to drive the OS X home window to support the capabilities in a similar manner.
