Arrow Plot?Hello all,
I have data that looks like this:
Category
Previous Current
A
5
10
B
30
25
C
0
20
D
3
4
E
20
30
I want to create a chart that shows the magnitude and direction of
change, going from Previous to Current. For example I would
have the Category on the Y axis, and show an arrow going from Previous
to Current in the X direction. Here's my attempt at a crude
graph using characters:
A
| ----->
style="font-family: monospace;">
B
|
<----
style="font-family: monospace;">
C
|------------------->
style="font-family: monospace;">
D
| >
style="font-family: monospace;">
E
|
---------->
style="font-family: monospace;">
+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+
0 5 10
15 20 25 30 35 40
Is such a thing possible in JMP? Failing that I'd be happy
with a chart showing the range covered by Current-Previous.
Thanks,
PeterRe: Arrow Plot?You can use add a graphics script to a graph (choose customize... in the dropdown menu when right clicking on a graph) and use the Arrow() function. I could not make it work in the horizontal chart platform, probably because categorical data are assumed there. By using overlay plot and transforming A-E into 1-5 I managed to get a graph that looks somewhat like your picture, however rotaded. Try the script below.
Re: Arrow Plot?David - that's a great example program. I've always wondered how to remove the axes and borders - simple when you know how.
Regards,
Peter
