Hi,

Can JMP, ideally JMP Genomics, run on Hadoop? Has anybody have experience with it?

Hi Valerie --

stanley.koprowski1 and I have tested out accessing data in a Hadoop cluster (Cloudera and Hortonworks) and have been successful via Hive and Impala in 12.2 and 13. We are currently testing a MapR cluster.

note JMP will not run on an "edge node" of a cluster; JMP is a desktop product.

But if a customer has data in Hadoop, you can use the Query Builder to access with ODBC (either with Hive or Impala).

Just to add onto Dan's reply, as far as JMP Genomics goes, they're not going to be on 12.2 till at the earliest next April. I would expect they'd have the same abilities to connect at that point as JMP does, but I don't think that's been tested at all. wenjun.bao@jmp.com
