I don't know who arranges speakers for Discovery, but I have a suggestion for next year-- this guy: http://www.stevenberlinjohnson.com/

I'm a big fan of his work. (Particularly "The Ghost Map", about cholera and epidemiology and sanitation and cities. ) He writes on science and culture, on innovation and big ideas, and on storytelling with data. His recent book and tv series combines all these threads -- "How We Got To Now". I recommend them highly!
