Mixed Model

I need some advice concerning a mixed model we are building:

Questions:

1. within group comparsion of the angles at different time points

2 beteen group comparsons of the angles at different time points

Specifications:

I want to measure in 2 different groups: 5 different spinal angles at 30 fixed time points

What can be random effects? participants (group), age, gender, lifestyle (ordinal), socio-economic status (ordinal),

Fixed effects? time points and angles

I agree with Mark. It seems like you have random effects and covariates a bit conflated. Just participant as random, everything else as fixed.

However, I’m confused about why group and participant are the same thing. Are the groups receiving different treatments? Or is “group” a set of measurements belonging to a single person?

It seems to me that age, gender, lifestyle (ordinal), and socio-economic status (ordinal) would be fixed effects.
