Is it Possible to Perform a Trend Test for Continuous Variable by 4-Level Ordinal Variable

Hi JMP Community,

 

I have this rather simple problem that bugs me: I would like to take advantage of the Ordinal nature of a 4-level classifying variable to identify positive and negative trends in a continuous variable. While I'm aware of the trend test for 2-level ordinal variable, I've not been able to find the equivalent for a 4-level ordinal variable.

I could treat the 4-level ordinal variable as a continuous one but I'm not sure if this is a valid approach.
