Testing against content in a JMP file with value labels.I have been trying to test for the existence of a word in the content of a JMP column, with embarassingly null outcomes. To be sure, I need to ask: When I browse a SAS file with attached formate, are the formats imported into the variables, or are the variables still in their original form, but displaying the format contents? If the latter, then obviously I cannot run a character test contains (variable, "search text) because the text is not there. Is that correct?
Thanks
Re: Testing against content in a JMP file with value labels.I figured it out. A data set with value labels still has original codes in
the columns. When you search to recode, you must search on these original
values.
Re: Testing against content in a JMP file with value labels. Can you attach a sample of the SAS data set?
Re: Testing against content in a JMP file with value labels.I have imported the file and the original sits on another machine. (I
cannot link to SAS on one machine--only on the other.)
Re: Testing against content in a JMP file with value labels. If you simply open the SAS data table in your JMP session, and examine the contents, it should give you your answer, or am I missing something?
