Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sortingHi,
I have several filters in a data filter context box. One is about the week numbers.
I would like to have an inverse sorting (to see or to have the choice first on the last weeks).
Is it possible to have it?
best regards
Re: Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sortingI have the X axis like this: (with month, week and day)
and I would like the user can make also the choice between the 3 or to keep the 3 together.
May be, it is too complicated

Re: Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sortingThanks very much for your help.
but I would like the inverse sort only fir the check box, not for the axis.
best regards
Re: Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sortingIt is to have a filter (like a check box filter) to modify automatically the x axis.
The user could make a choice between : month, week or day.
Re: Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sortingThis is the JSL to reverse the order of age in data table Big Class.
Names Default to Here(1);
dt = Open("$sample_data/big class.jmp");
//get the list of unique values
uniq = dt << Summary(Group(:age), Invisible);
reverse_val = Reverse(As List(uniq:age << get values));
Close(uniq, NoSave);
dt:age << Set Property("Value Ordering", Expr(reverse_val) );
I did not understand your X-axis question. Are you looking to change the time units on the X-axis or create filters or??
Re: Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sortingHere is a simple script illustrating how to build and implement the Value Ordering property for a column in a data table.
Names Default To Here( 1 );
dt = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/Big Class.jmp" );
// Find unique values for the column Age
Summarize( dt, byGroup = by( :age ) );
// By default the list returned from the By operation
// is a list of characters. For numeric columns, this
// can be an issue, so for numeric columns this needs
// the list values to be changed to numeric values
If( :age << get data type == "Numeric",
For( i = 1, i <= N Items( ByGroup ), i++,
ByGroup[i] = Num( ByGroup[i] )
)
);
// Reverse order the list
ByGroup = Sort Descending( ByGroup );
// Set the Column Property for the column
:Age << set property( "Value Ordering", ByGroup );
// Run the Graph Builder Platform to illustrate the effect
// of the new Value Ordering property

Documentation on the functions used in the script can be found in the Scripting Guide
Help==>Books==>Scripting Guide
or in the Scripting Index
Help==>Scripting Index
I strongly suggest that you take the time to read the Scripting Guide. It will give you a big leg-up on writing scripts like the one above.
Concerning your question about changing the values on the X axis, the Column Switcher is an ideal solution to your problem
Names Default To Here( 1 );
dt = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/Aircraft Incidents.jmp" );
// Create new columns to represent Week, Month and Day
dt << New Column( "Week", formula( Week Of Year( :Event Date ) ) );
dt << New Column( "Month", formula( Month( :Event Date ) ) );
dt << New Column( "Day", formula( Day Of Year( :Event Date ) ) );
// Now run the Graph Builder Platform with the Column Switcher to
// illustrate how to use it to swap out the different columns for
// the X axis
Graph Builder(
Size( 534, 454 ),
Show Control Panel( 0 ),
Variables( X( :Week ), Y( :Total Serious Injuries ) ),
Elements( Points( X, Y, Legend( 3 ) ), Smoother( X, Y, Legend( 4 ) ) ),
Column Switcher( :Week, {:Week, :Month, :Day} )
);

Re: Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sortingHi,
OK, it's good: I've modified in the properies of the column.
But I would like to have it by JSL Possible?
Another question: I would like to have a filter for the X axis.
Ex.: you hae a X axis in a graph with day+ week+ month. You want to choice for this axis between week or month or day..
Possible?
best regards
Re: Data Filter Context Box JMP14 sorting- Right click on your column for weeks.
- Select Column Properties > Value Ordering
- There will be a dialog, press the button Reverse
Now all sorting, and displays etc will use that order. This should be done prior to adding your filter. If your filter is already created, remove weeks and then add it.
