Adding Column Selction in Data FilterI am using JMP12 and creating a report with a simple bivariate and data filter. The data table has several numerical columns that will be the Y axis of the bivariate. I want to pass a variable to the bivariate as the column as the Y axis.
ColList = {"col1","col2"};
If I were creating a static report I could easily Us :Y (Column(ColList[x]) in a for loop.
I tried putting a combo box with the filter in a vlist and then using <
I tried using the Column Selector argument, but unsure how that works as the scripting guide only refers to it as an argument option.
Since the data filter is just a method of row filtering, I was curious if there might be a way to shoe horn in a column selector.
I have not tried using a loop at the end checking to see if the combobox value changes then try to perform a recalc.
Re: Adding Column Selction in Data FilterI will keep the drag and drop in mind, thanks. I will pass along to other folk here.
As far as the "Show Column Selector" it is only mentioned once in the scripting guide.
Subset Data Using the Data Filter
The Data Filter provides a variety of ways to identify subsets of data. Using Data Filter
commands and options, you can select complex subsets of data, hide these subsets in plots, or
exclude them from analyses.
The basic syntax appears as follows:
dt << Data Filter( , , , ,
Window( 0 | 1 ), );
Options for Data Filter include the following:
Add Filter, Animation, Auto Clear, Clear, Close, Columns, Conditional, Data
Table Window, Delete, Delete All, Display, Get Filtered Rows, Location,
Match, Mode, Report, Save and Restore Current Row States, Set Select, Set
Show, Set Include, Show Column Selector, Show Subset, Use Floating Window
Note: For more arguments, see the Scripting Index.
Re: Adding Column Selction in Data FilterCan you please add more context to your reference of 'Show Column Selector' ? It is not registering to my aging brain.
I also want to add to the discussion a JMP feature that a lot of folks are not aware of. If a column name is dragged from the data table, or the Column Viewer, or from an other display of column names, and then dropped onto the axis area of a platform of a Bivariate Plot, or Distribution, etc. the platform that was dropped on will switch to the new column and redisplay the output. So that feature might be something you might want to look into.
Re: Adding Column Selction in Data FilterThanks, then adding the custom list of columns will work for the bivariate. I will have to add that to all my other plots; it takes up space, but it works.
It would be nice if this could be added to the data filter. I though that what the 'Show Column Selector' argument was for.
ColList = {"Col1", "Col2"};
dt1 << Bivariate(
Y( :Col1 ),
X( :DATE ),
Automatic Recalc( 1 ),
Column Switcher( :Col1, ColList ),
);
Re: Adding Column Selction in Data FilterWhat you seem to be asking for can be handled by using a "Column Switcher". It allows for the swapping of columns in a platform's display. In JMP 12, the Column Switcher is available under the red triangle in the display output
