Account validations SLGKate,
I’ve had another issue come up today around former SLG accounts. I set up a validation rule in Salesforce to insure that commercial opportunities did not progress beyond a certain stage without an account validation. Your team has not historically validated SLG accounts. If the Opportunity is through EIS, validation is a moot point, because the account becomes whatever is on the PO, I believe.
Can you:
- Confirm the above, and
- Confirm that your team is prepared to validate accounts for opportunities that are non-EIS.
This may require a discussion, but I wanted to at least get the wheels turning on this.
Thanks,
Tina
Re: Account validations SLGThanks @CJG!Re: Account validations SLGOK with proceeding with standard Corporate process for non-EIS opportunities for State and Local Government.
Re: Account validations SLGStan - Understood and agreed. Our business is fluid.
I'd like to get some confirmation from business operations that we can push the former SLG accounts back into the commercial business and instruct the commercial reps to use the same commercial process for account validations and paperwork requests. @kathycobb, @CJG, can you please respond so I can update Salesforce? There are two deals pending for close in July.
Thanks,
Tina
Re: Account validations SLGTina,
Okay. Agreed.
Just wanted you to be aware that we might need to make additional changes moving forward.

Re: Account validations SLG@stan_koprowski the challenge is that the business needs have changed quite recently as the SLG territory no longer exists, and is being pushed into the commercial territories. The business needs will likely continue to be fluid as we move through definition of the scope of our project. Salesforce changes need to be made, so day to day business can continue to operate, as we meet the immediate changing business needs. The effort to accommodate SLG account validations from a Salesforce perspective is minimal. 1-2 days to make changes and test.
I'm not sure I understand your 2nd question. Can you put it in perspective regarding the SLG Account Validation topic?
Re: Account validations SLGHi @tina_dubois,
I met with Kathy and Ashley to discuss the request and how it fits into our current scope and we had some follow-on questions.
Basically, we are trying to understand changes we make now versus after the scope is fully defined and whether or not you might be ok with making multiple changes.
- Can you assess the effort for making the changes now?
- Are you ok with potentially making additional changes moving forward that might impact the change being made now?
Thanks,
Stan
Re: Account validations SLGHi @ashley_prince and @kathycobb
I added an email discussion here so that we have the context and priority.
We should make sure we discuss this information flow today as the Salesforce team needs to make changes that will impact current business.
We will want to make sure we have an arrow with "SLG account validation" coming from ?? --Salesforce, GIDB.

Re: Account validations SLGKathy & Carol,
The change that has occurred is affecting the commercial sales teams immediately, so I need to update Salesforce to handle the changes and get SLG references out of the system moving forward. Business Operations is already validating the commercial team’s accounts, and the SLG business now falls into the commercial team’s realm.
I did a quick analysis to see what the impact might be and it looks rather minimal at this point.
Today, there are 16 open New Annual License opportunities not licensing via EIS, and 5 are already a GIDB account. So really, we are talking about 11 possible account validations. Only 2 have a close date this month, so we need to take care of these right away.
Let me know your thoughts.

Re: Account validations SLGHi Tina, I am not sure if we need to make any changes to SalesForce at this time. We should continue to treat SLG like we currently treat non-EIS FGOV & Academic Let’s run this by Stan.
Hi Stan,
Including you on this email to provide direction if/how to proceed since we are on a tight timeline for the Salesforce to Comit project.
Thanks!
Kathy
