Has anyone come across shape files or created any for US Zip Codes in the Plus 4 format?

Hi Folks,

Has anyone come across shape files in the US Zip Code "Plus 4" format?  This is the five digit zip code with an additional four digits of location precision.  I probably don't need the whole country; it would be too huge.  But a single medium sized state might be nice.  I note some SAS solutions support this format.

Hi Chuck, I helped a customer with a similar request yesterday, and developed a set of instructions to send to them so they could get at the file without needing SAS. Unfortunately the CSV file doesn't include column headers so it's not so straightforward to get it into JMP without SAS. I did the import using the SAS program, checked the column names, and named the columns we needed upon import. Since it's behind a SAS profile, and even the trimmed down file was huge, that seemed like he best way to deliver it to the customer. I think the extra variables were census related and checking the two files against one another, someone could modify my script to get all the column names right.  As it was, having the two  copies open together didn't work so well for JMP and my OS froze so I didn't go further than getting the columns I needed.

I was able to find a SAS dataset
with Zip plus 4 for the US and it also includes latitude and longitude. 
It’s nice to know I still remember a enough SAS to run Proc Import and Proc
Export.  LOL  Here is the file:

\jmpsi\source\users\Boiler\ForGhazal

It’s huge and old (2006) so it
should probably be subsetted before creating a demo, either a shape file or
just trying to do mapping.  The scripts are centered on my house and the
‘plus 4’ centroid is on my street.
