Ordinal variable used as random effect<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

Hello everyone,

I was trying to build a model with a random effect which is an ordinal variable.

However I got the following alert:

Does it mean that it is impossible to choose an ordinal variable for a random effect or is my variable an exception?

So I am gonna transform my variable before use it as a random effect.

No, it does not take an ordinal variable as an random effect; it only accepts a nominal variable as a random effect.  (The Random Effects tab in Mixed Model personality is used to specify a variance component model or random coefficients model, while Attributes> Random Effect available in Standard Least Squares personality supports variance component models only.)
