Looking up dataI have a data table that i pulled in from a database with an sql query and would like to be able to build a script that would allow me to search/lookup a number from the "container" column in this table and tell me what "product" is associated with that "container" number. Can this be done with either a script or some type of add-in? I am attaching theh data table for your review. The two columns are called "Container" and "Product". Thanks
Re: Looking up dataAdding to @Peter_Bartell , answer , here is the script you want to use:
Clear Globals(); Clear Log();
// Open Raw Data
dt = Open("Customer History.jmp"); // Provide complete file path
dt << Tabulate(
Show Control Panel( 0 ),
Add Table( Row Table( Grouping Columns( :Product ) ) ),
Local Data Filter( Add Filter( columns( :Container ) ), Display(:Container,Size(160,90),List Display) )
);Re: Looking up dataHere is a simple script that uses Tabiulate and a Local Data Filter to give you the lookup you are after.
Names Default To Here( 1 );
dt = Data Table( "Customer History" );
Tabulate(
Show Control Panel( 0 ),
Show Test Build Panel( 1 ),
Add Table( Row Table( Grouping Columns( :Product ) ) ),
Local Data Filter(
Add Filter( columns( :Container ), Display( :Container, Size( 160, 225 ), List Display ) )
)
);

Re: Looking up dataI guess you could write a script...but JMP's built in Rows -> Select Where capability will allow you find all the rows with a given value for "Container" and then for ease of viewing you could use Tables -> Tables Subset -> Selected Rows to create a table with just the desired rows. Optionally consider hiding all the columns not needed in the original data table as well?
Or other ways I could envision would use JMP's built in data filter capability, or if you know the containers you want pre-query, invoke a data filter within the query itself...as you'll find out pretty quickly, quite often there are more than one way to accomplish a task in JMP.
