GDPR affects the way we do business globally, not just in the EU. Anyone who communicates with individuals should be aware of how we can collect and use personal data.
A few key points:
- The purpose of the GDPR is to protect the personal data of individuals. It takes a very broad and expansive view of personal data and what constitutes the processing of personal data.
- Think of GDPR as the perpetual fuel to maintaining a culture in which SAS employees, regardless of their job function, respond instinctively with privacy in mind – an idea that GDPR describes as “privacy by design and by default.”
- GDPR impacts not only companies within the EU, but any company that processes the personal data of residents of the EU. If you engage with personal data in your job and there’s a chance it includes data of an EU resident, you’re affected.
- JMP follows all the rules and guidelines that SAS has developed for handling personal data in regards to GDPR.
Below, you'll find the video of the presentation along with the slides from my webcast on GDPR on June 7, 2018.
Note: because of audio difficulties, I was unable to capture the questions during the Q&A section. The video concludes at the end of my main presentation.
