Running JMP Presentation Server from a browser -- Is this allowed under license terms?Hey all.
Working with a customer from Amazon who wants to:
-Buy a JMP Presentation Server license.
-Develop JMP Scripts to run automated data query and analysis.
-Run the whole thing through a web browser.
For the moment, leave aside the fact that this is a terrible idea. I've tried to talk him out of it, told him that if he's buying a Presentation Server license then he should just give all users access to JMP, and let them run the scripts within JMP. But he is insistent.
JMP Live may be a good solution for him, when it is cooked and ready. But we're not talking about that here.
Strictly from a license terms perspective: Assuming that only licensed JMP Presentation Server users have access to the web page, is this allowable? I'm assuming no, but would like confirmation.
@stan_koprowski, @danielvalente, @Jeff_Perkinson, please advise!!
Thanks,
Jordan
Re: Running JMP Presentation Server from a browser -- Is this allowed under license terms?Chris,
Under the current presentation server license agreement you are not permitted to access via a browser.
You can use any desktop client application, such as, remote desktop or any MAC or Windows OS supported virtualization client.
Mobile, i.e., phone or tablet, virtualization clients are not supported.

Re: Running JMP Presentation Server from a browser -- Is this allowed under license terms? So you can only use RDP to connect to something like an AWS instance using something like Remote Desktop Connection app but not access through a browser, even if it was available.
Is that correct?
Re: Running JMP Presentation Server from a browser -- Is this allowed under license terms?Chris,
As you know, accessing JMP using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is not the same as launching JMP from a browser.
RDP is a client application and communicates to the host via a different protocol.
We do not support or license JMP under the presentation server agreement with browser access.

Re: Running JMP Presentation Server from a browser -- Is this allowed under license terms?Jordan,
We don't support or license this architecture under the current presentation server license agreement.

Re: Running JMP Presentation Server from a browser -- Is this allowed under license terms? To add, if they are remoted desktoping to JMP and opening JMP through a browser, then I think that is OK. Kinda like AWS but you still interact with JMP.
Re: Running JMP Presentation Server from a browser -- Is this allowed under license terms?Hi Jordan,
My understanding is that it is not allowed. It would essentially be running JMP Headless and that JMP Share is supposed to be about. The customer needs to launch JMP and interact with it, even if running scripts. I believe the licnese agreement as something that is more legal language about this.
