TL;DR:
- Join the community with your jmp.com/sas.com email address and you'll get staff privileges and access to SAS Employee categories. Staff role will be assigned automatically within 24 hours after you join the Community.
- Two interaction styles:
- Discussions - Purpose of the post is the conversation itself. Question or comment that you want answer or reaction to.
- Library/Knowledge Base - Purpose of the post is the resource/information being posted. Post may be updated as information or status changes. This is good for things like sharing an agenda, a policy, a demo or a presentation.
- Subscribe to the boards you're interested in. For example, if you're in Sales and Marketing you'll should subscribe to the boards in the Sales and Marketing category. Subscribing will ensure that you get notifications when content is posted. Look the for the "Subscribe" button in the toolbar at the top of each board.
- Control your Notifications by going to "My Subscriptions." You can control the frequency of email, getting a daily or weekly digest if you prefer.
- Best practices for posting:
- Try to put rich content into the post itself. Don't create a Word document and attach it to a post that says, "See attachment." Instead, copy and paste the content of the Word document itself into the post. This makes it searchable and consumable without having to download the document. You can still attach the document if you want but make the post as rich as possible. Similarly with PowerPoint presentations, if it's just a set of bullet points in the slides, put that content in the post itself. Also, you can export the PowerPoint slides as images and embed them in the post.
- Use the JSL formatter if you're posting JSL code.
- Use the Photos or Videos buttons to embed images in your posts. Don't attach them to the post.
