STIPS FAQThis content has been moved to Confluence, STIPS FAQ.
If your users experience technical difficulties, for example with access, badging or activation, please have them contact elearn@sas.com.
Thank you!
There are essentially two ways for employees to take exams for free:
- The first way is to take it here on the SAS campus in Cary. We offer monthly testing sessions. Also, many of our SAS Country offices offer regular testing sessions for employees, partners and customers. You can check with your SAS Country office to determine if this is possible.
- If you are not on campus you can take it at any Pearson VUE Testing Center or through Pearson VUE’s online proctoring system. You will simply register for the exam and pay for it with your corporate credit card and then request reimbursement from your manager.
NOTE: when registering for the exam, whether at home via online proctoring or at a Pearson test center, you must create an account. To do this, provide a PERSONAL email. If you provide a SAS or JMP email, the spam filters will prevent you from getting the auto-generated email containing the registration confirmation link.

FAQSTIPSRe: STIPS FAQHi Mia-san and team,
We found that STIPS has updated and is supporting JMP 17.
But it seems to be English only now.
When was it switched?
And can you please tell when localized version is available?
Or can we continue to use old Japanese version until it would be available?
A Japanese customer is in middle of STIP in Japanese.
Thank you in advance,
Atsuko
Re: STIPS FAQSo do we - it'll take a serious amount of work to get there.
FYI - we've asked SAS Ed to add the Using the Virtual Lab pdf to this container block. Not sure why we didn't do this before, but it should help some with confusion around using the lab and finding the data.

Re: STIPS FAQThanks @mia_stephens . That all sounds good. Looking forward to the JMP-hosted STIPS.
Re: STIPS FAQHi @Phil_Kay,
Thank you for your feedback. A good starting point for understanding how to use the virtual lab is to look at the read me, and under Using the JMP Virtual Lab click "Here" - this opens a pdf with instructions on how to use, and how to find the sample data. Granted, this is a bit buried, but the information is very useful and is fairly comprehensive. I'll see if we can add this pdf to the Virtual Lab block to make it easier to find.
The Refresh Your Data option can be used if there is an issue with the STIPS data in the virtual lab for a user. For example, if the data folder for a particular user doesn't load or if files have inadvertently been deleted, this link resets the data.
For the time being, if there are technical issues with STIPS, including the virtual lab, the team at SAS Ed is still supporting STIPS via elearn@sas.com. This is the technical support email for SAS Ed.
In terms of feedback and suggestions for improvement, there is a link in STIPS to the User Community Discussion Forum. STIPS students can ask questions or start discussions there, and they're free to post requests in the Wish List.
That said, within the next year we'll be working on the transition of STIPS to a JMP-hosted virtual learning environment. We don't have any details to share, and there are a lot of questions to answer and technical issues to work through. However, it is an opportunity for us to improve the user experience, including the usability of the virtual lab, so we'll likely ask for input and feedback once this work is underway.
I hope this helps,
Mia

Re: STIPS FAQHi @mia_stephens ,
From talking with a few people that have used STIPS, the JMP virtual lab seems to be confusing to use. For example, finding the example data sets is not intuitive. And I remember there being something about need to "refresh" the data. I know this is documented for the users but it feels like we are making it hard for people. So 2 questions:
1. Is there a better place to provide this kind of feedback?
2. Is there any possibility of improving ease-of-use of the virtual lab?
Thanks, Phil.
Re: STIPS FAQThank you, @mia_stephens !
Re: STIPS FAQ@Juliette_Plager , nice that Microsoft is interested!
STIPS is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. We are currently working on a Spanish translation, with Module 1 set to be released some time this month. We will translate Modules 1 and 2 to start, and might stop there depending on resources and demand.
STIPS is also available in English on Coursera.
Re: STIPS FAQ@mia_stephens , I'm not sure if the above list is up-to-date - is STIPS offered in English, Chinese (Mandarin?), Korean, Japanese and Spanish? Microsoft is very interested. Thanks!
Re: STIPS FAQUPDATE:
Effective Nov 12, 2021, the only STIPS course integration option we will offer and support is access to STIPS teaching materials. The other options (video links, SCORM files, ...) are not currently available due to resource constraints and legal requirements. These options will be reconsidered after January 2022.
STIPS teaching materials (English) can be requested from https://www.jmp.com/en_us/online-statistics-course.html (see the Teach with STIPS box on the right).
NEW PROCESS:
Requests for STIPS teaching materials will be routed to the appropriate sales team. After the team verifies that the materials will be used in either an academic course or internal company training setting, the team can send this link to the customer to download the materials.
This is a great opportunity to connect with any of your customers that are engaged with STIPS, have a training dept, or are looking to kickstart/supplement their own statistical training course.
Please let me know if there are any questions.
Thanks you,
Mia
Re: STIPS FAQHi James,
The certification is digital only, and unless you're an academic (50% discount) there aren't any discounts for the exam.
However, there is a new option through Coursera - students can take STIPS on coursera for free, and for $29 they can earn a Coursera Certificate of Completion. It's not quite a certification, but it is recognized by many companies.

Re: STIPS FAQHi - I had 2 questions from a customer about STIPS:
1- The certification for the course is an issuance of digital badge only or there will be a hard copy of the certificate too?
2- The fee for the certification exam is around 180 US $, is there any possibility of discount for the exam only? - The link below shows its paid

Re: Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving: Course DevelopmentSorry, here's the link: http://sww.sas.com/cbt/Library_rc/EJMPST/
Re: Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving: Course DevelopmentFYI - If you'd like to take a sneak peak at what we're developing, the Correlation and Regression module is being built out in an internal test environment. Scroll down to 5.1 Correlation. Note that JMP Pro 14 will be made available for the practice exercises (you won't see the link at the test site) and that we are actively refining this content. If you see any issues please let me know.
Re: Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving: Course DevelopmentWe will begin field testing for the course with the one module, Correlation and Regression, around August 24. The current list of testers is attached to this article. We've got quite a few customers on the list, and don't want to expand the list too much, but if you've got any important customers you'd like to add please let me know. Thanks!
Mia
PS - we're working on a web page for the course. This will be at www.jmp.com/statisticalthinking. Stay tuned.
Re: Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving: Course DevelopmentThanks Jerry! That was fun, and Julian and Ryan made it come to life!
