Views from hotel roomsSometimes when you are on the road you get a hotel room with a view that you just have to share. I sent this to Jordan and he suggested that I should share with the group. Here is the view from my room at the doubletree in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Breathtaking.

Re: Views from hotel roomsbut not good views apparently
Re: Views from hotel roomsYep! That's my hometown alright! They're big into (sports) fans.
Re: Views from hotel roomsThe Homewood Suites in downtown Indianapolis. Breathtaking both day a night. The flickering florescent light added to the ambiance.

Re: Views from hotel roomsIf it were in Memphis, I'd say it was a "Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love"!
Re: Views from hotel roomsI think someone was trying to make their own BBQ Ribs and they caught fire or they gave up their music career and burned their guitar.Re: Views from hotel roomsThis was unusual! Home2Suites, east of Nashville TN.

Re: Views from hotel roomsI think during all those beautiful places I need to send something not that nice

Re: Views from hotel rooms
A parking lot AND a high end grocery story in Bloomington, Minnesota. Pretty swanky!
Re: Views from hotel roomsCould it ever be that someone is too young to not know T&J???
Hopefully not! They need to stay alive like roadrunner, speedy gonzales, Elmar Fat and all the other loony tunes (though Tom and Jerry aren't loony tunes
MGM "Lion" rather WB)
Re: Views from hotel roomsGlad you got moved Jerry. What a cute little mouse! For those that are not familiar with the reference:

Re: Views from hotel rooms(Correcting my mistake, reposting in SE Discussions instead of SE Knowledge Base)...
OK, this doesn't quite fit under "Views from hotel rooms", but it does fit "What I saw from my window."
So I'm in Cleveland at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown. Settling in for the night in my 7th floor room overlooking Cleveland's baseball stadium (Indians were on a road trip), reading a book when a distant relative of this cute little fellow caught my eye scurrying across the carpet:

I named him Jerry (of course), chased him around for a bit before he jumped back up in the window HVAC unit. (Hence "What I saw from my window.") I called the front desk, and after some awkward confusion on their part, they moved me to the 11th floor facing the opposite direction from the stadium. (Clearly the assumption here is that mice can't climb.)
Sadly, I'm told that the exterminator has been called to take care of the "Jerry" problem. (Hopefully they mean the mouse, not the human.) I can only assume that the exterminator's name will be "Tom."
Re: Views from hotel roomsIf there was a way to add a 'mic drop' to this picture the 'view' from room 2602 at the Marriott Wardman Hotel in Washington DC I would. Can't even see the sky.

Re: Views from hotel roomsThose take some beating!
Re: Views from hotel roomsTwo of my haunts in NYC:
Empire State on a cloudy night. Taken from the Fairfield Inn Midtown - Near Penn Station
Times Square in February. Taken from the Courtyard Central Park - Near the NYC SAS Office
Re: Views from hotel roomsThis is from the 5th floor of th Hilton Chicago.
On the wall of my room at Hampton Inn outside Philly
Another good view or two. From the SAS office in Chicago
Turning right from the previous view

Re: Views from hotel roomsAwww, man! @Jeff_Perkinson, why you gotta bogart my riff!Re: Views from hotel roomsOops...I was fixing @Peter_Bartell's picture while @MikeD_Anderson was riffing on it. Sorry.
As an amends, here's the view from my hotel room in Indianapolis last week. The Alexander is a really nice hotel (with a great bar). The view from this particular third floor room however...

Re: Views from hotel roomsPeople do say Washington is a little sideways...
Re: Views from hotel roomsSometimes we do stay someplace a little nicer? Not a bad way to start the day on a morning run...

Re: Views from hotel roomsThat looks like a nice youth hostel you are in there Don.
Re: Views from hotel roomsNot sure what all the complaining is about on this thread. At least you all had a view. Got this when I was in San Francisco.

Re: Views from hotel rooms
HGI Ottawa Airport - gotta like those lower floors!
The bird on the rail was the best part of the view!
Re: Views from hotel rooms
Crowne Plaza, Nottingham
Nottingham, England. Stayed here when visiting a customer in Derby with Chris Gotwalt. As you can see Nottingham is not all pretty. But compared to Derby...
Re: Views from hotel roomsNot from hotel rooms...but next time we have Kick Off in Cary, call the Rochester airport snow removal crew. This is how you handle snow...8 inches fell overnight. Just another Tuesday in Rochester NY.

Re: Views from hotel roomsYa that is my favorite hotel there! Not really, it also has great views of construction on the local streets.
Re: Views from hotel roomsIf you are ever in St. Paul Minnesota I think you should consider a stay at the Embassy Suites. Weather you prefer a view of I-94 or I-35 or both this hotel delivers. From the same hotel brand that brings the impeccable quailty of Embassy Suites Cary. If you enjoy peeling paint, moldy showers and the ever present threat of legionnaires disease this hotel delivers. I highly recommend taking a leisurely ride on one of the elevators it is a great opportunity to check e-mail, catch up on some reading or prep a demo. If you are not sold on this hotel yet check out the view.
Re: Views from hotel roomsEven the Bates Motel
Re: Views from hotel roomsYa, that looks like most of Western Minnestota. I miss those days...Not really.
Did you get to climb to the top of the mall of america? I got most of the way up to the top of Ulmer Munster (the tower in the back ground).
I did get to the top of this building in Minneapolis. And I mean I have been on the roof top. I have pictures...from about 27 years ago.

Re: Views from hotel roomsVery nice Chris. The architecture reminds me of my view of the mall of America last week.

Re: Views from hotel roomsThis is my view from Ulm.

Re: Views from hotel roomsAnd just let me add Sunday sunrise at the SAS San Francisco office? It really is breathtaking.

Re: Views from hotel roomsMay I add the juxtaposition of 60's modern hospital to Archie Bunker houses from Pittsburgh with Jerry and Bill last week at the Hilton Garden Inn. I think it's charming.

Re: Views from hotel roomsThe Magestic Tri Cities
Re: Views from hotel rooms@Jordan_Hiller
Hey! You're in my hometown... and yup, that looks about right. There's a reason they put a bunch of nuclear reactors there...
Re: Views from hotel roomsAnd here's my view from the Best Western in Pasco WA this morning. Ah, the romance of business travel!

Re: Views from hotel roomsIf you close your eyes the views from all rooms are the same.
Re: Views from hotel roomsI kind of liked my crane view in Prague

Re: Views from hotel roomsI feel like rooftops of Cedar Rapids is a movie I would like to see. Cedar rapids is also known for there excellent music scene. Your choice of many washed up 80s bands (Boston, Blue Oyser Cult to name a few).
Re: Views from hotel roomsI'd be complaining to hotel management that you didn't get the view that included the roof top HVAC equipment!
Re: Views from hotel roomsI've heard that the roofs of Cedar Rapids are considered an eighth wonder of the world and that they are so romantic that Roofs of Cedar Rapids was the original title for Bridges of Madison County.Re: Views from hotel rooms
Hampton Hilton, York, England. You can just about see the city walls between the hotel and the railway station. These walls date back to Roman times, I believe, and they are mostly intact. Don't know what issues they had agreeing the budget to build.
A circuit round them makes a good 4km morning run and you can keep an eye out for invading barbarian Scots.
Here is a view looking back on the wall from one of the defensive "murder holes" in the wall.

You can just see the Minster (or Cathedral). Fun fact: the organist at York Minster taught music to John Barry who was born in York and went on to compose all the famous Jame Bond themes.
Re: Views from hotel roomsSome of my favorites from last year!
HGI Ottawa Canada
HGI Canton OH
Embassy Suites near Dallas
HGI Pittsburgh
You'll have to tilt you head to the left to get the full monty on a few of these, but sideways almost makes them look better.
Re: Views from hotel roomsA few years back, I stayed at a Hilton in Markham, ON (just north of Toronto) and was lucky enough to have a room with this shower amenity. Not sure what it's for, foot wash, maybe? I'm guessing it's a Canadian thing.

Re: Views from hotel roomsSeattle is a gorgeous city, although, you wouldn't know that based upon the view from my room:

However, even the bricks have a certain allure... too bad the reflection had to muck it all up.
Re: Views from hotel roomsThis is the view from the "window" in my Home2Suites in Downtown Indy. They literally had a window that had no outside view and looked directly into some sort of shaft. Note the lovely images of the Home2Suites logo they projected on the outer wall to make up for the lack of a view.
Re: Views from hotel roomsHome2 Suites in Chandler, AZ.

It got better as the sun went down.

Re: Views from hotel roomsMelbourne Central Business District
and Copenhagen
And you thought international travel was so glorious with awsome views
Re: Views from hotel roomsBrandon, Manitoba, Canada
A lovely view of the hotel's (Best Western) water slide from the only window in my hotel room.
