Determining Monitor Size

Does anyone know of a simple way within JSL to determine either the size of the monitor (i.e. the number of pixels from left to right and top to bottom of the screen), or alternatively the current size of the JMP window when running a JSL script? I know I can scale anything just by dragging its border once it's been created, but I'd like to size a chart so that it occupies a specific proportion of the screen at the time of its creation.

The above problem's reared its head again, and I'm trying once more to find a way to solve it after having left it gathering dust on the shelf for almost a year. Does anybody know the name of the JMP main window in JMP 7 or 8? If I know that, I should simply be able to get the information I need from something like this:

XandY = JMPMainWindow << get window size;

In JMP 9 the problem goes away, because every new window is detached anyway, and I now know how to determine the size of the monitor in pixels. In JMP 7 and 8 however there's no guarantee that the main JMP window has been maximized - and I can't assume that the users of the piece of script I'm writing have upgraded to JMP 9 yet.

This is a problem I need to solve also, although I've been putting it off thinking it wont be an issue with version 9. The way I deal with it at the moment is to create a window, maximise it, then get the window size and close the window. It's not particularly elegant, and only gives an approximate indication of the size. I suspect the best way is to use a windows DLL to retrieve the information.

I actually tried doing something very similar to this before, but had difficulty getting rid of the test window after maximizing it (because I couldn't find a way to return it to its original size before deleting it, whereas if I simply deleted it while it was still maximized then any other windows already on the screen would themselves also become maximized - which I didn't want to happen).

The only fly in the ointment seems to be that the act of cascading the window resizes any other windows open at the time - and I don't want those other windows to be resized. Now then, I could deal with that easily enough by just recording the positions and sizes of any other windows beforehand, and then resetting them afterwards - but I don't know how to determine how many other windows are open, and generate a list of their names (which I could then use to return each one to its original position and size).

Does anyone know how to do that? If I can find that out, I should be able to solve the whole problem.

Woo-Seaq Je posted an example for Windows on the file exchange last spring that uses Load Dll to access user32.dll and the GetSystemMetrics function to determine monitor screen size. Perhaps that would be usefull.
