Japanese Title: Individualization of Cancer Patient Blood-Circulating Cancer Cells by JMP
Showa University Medical School (Koto-Toyosu Hospital Department of Gastroenterology Surgery) Associate Professor Hiroaki ITO
As a digestive surgeon, the presenter mainly engages in surgical treatment of esophageal cancer and gastric cancer, and at the same time, it continues translational research on the theme of cancer micro metastasis and ultra early cancer diagnosis. It is known that there are cells called "circulating cancer cells" that circulate in blood vessels of cancer patients and are separated from the primary tumor of the cancer and circulate in the blood vessels, which is the main cause of the hematogenous metastasis of cancer It is believed that.In 2004, the presenter clarified the correlation between circulating cancer cells of patients with esophageal cancer and the degree of progression and life prognosis of cancer.Even after that, it showed similar results with gastric cancer etc. We have continued our research aiming at the development of ultra-early cancer diagnosis and new metastasis suppressive treatment of cancer.Recently, it has been reported that treatment changes the cell diameter of circulating cancer cells.Currently, we developed a technology to detect and collect circulating cancer cells as they are alive without labeling with antibodies or the like.In this way, JMP is an indispensable and powerful tool to analyze the relationship between individualization of circulating cancer cells, which is a very important sample for cancer research, and life prognosis. In this presentation, I would like to concretely show how to analyze complicated clinical data with JMP, with a demonstration.

The Individualization of Circulating Cancer Cells in the Blood of Cancer Patients Using JMP ®
Hiroaki Ito, Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, Digestive Diseases Center, Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital
As a gastroenterological surgeon, I am mostly involved in the surgical treatment of esophageal cancer and stomach cancer, but I also continue translational research on micrometastasis and early cancer diagnosis. Circulating tumor cells, which isolate from primary tumor and circulate in the blood of cancer patients believe to be the main cause of hematogenous cancer metastasis. In 2004, I clarified the relationship between circulating cancer cells, cancer progression, and prognosis in patients with esophageal cancer. I subsequently identified similar results for stomach cancer, and continued my research with the aim of developing methods for early cancer diagnosis and new metastasis suppression treatments. I recently reported that treatment changes the cellular diameter of circulating cancer cells. I also developed a technique for detecting and sampling viable circulating cancer cells without labeling. JMP is an indispensable and powerful tool for characterizing individual circulating tumor cells and patients' prognosis. In this presentation, I will demonstrate the procedure about how JMP can be used to analyze complex clinical data.
