In recent years, from the viewpoint of regional economy and environmental protection, it is expected to use wood for various buildings. However, since wood is a combustible material, it is necessary to ensure sufficient fire resistance. Therefore, pressurized injection processing for impregnating wood with a flame retardant agent under high pressure has been performed. The processed wood by such treatment is called flame-retarded wood.
Under ideal circumstances, the targeted amount of impregnated medicine is obtained, but it is reported that the variation in the impregnation amount increases in actual production.Increasing the target value in the pressurized injection process lowers the nonconforming item rate, but increases the proportion of excessive, resulting in performance degradation in properties (quality) other than fireproofness. Therefore, it is a problem in the production of flame-retarded wood to reduce variation in impregnation amount of flame retardant agent by pressure injection.
In this research, we conducted exploratory data analysis using JMP for actual data on pressurized injection processing (batch processing) over the past two years at a producer and analyzed the factor of variation in the impregnation amount did.We could identify the average effect (location effects) and dispersion effect (bounce effect) in the batch, and we could construct a statistical model for determining the processing conditions. In addition, the effect of the producer's past actions has been verified from the data.
In this report, we show the connection between database manipulation of JMP and analysis tool, and report examples of data analysis for quality improvement in flame retarded timber production.
